Community Tasting Note

November 23, 2023 - Opened one to take a peek at its ageing curve. Ageing gracefully albeit slowly due to its immense structure, a given considering the 2002 vintage. Still showing a vivaciously bright acid alongside crisp white fruit and red apples, slowly softened by slight tertiary notes of honey and browning sugar. Quite pure and crisp fruit with the tertiary notes quite in the background, this bottle still tasted rather young. This seems to be on track with what I was expecting, but seemed to be a couple years off the peak at least. Hard to complain about opening this vintage today as it is already really enjoyable. Especially when considering the price being comparable to the recently released vintages of Dom Perignon. But I will be patient as I want those tertiary notes to be more dominant. 93 today, expecting 95+ in 2-5 years. Paired extraordinarily well with a Cantonese-styled seafood banquet meal.
