May 18, 2019 - Beautifully mature yet youthful nose displaying decadent ripe yellow fruit with a hint of white, lemon curd, lemon zest, apple, peach, white flowers, candied ginger, smoke, brioche and limestone. Exceptional concentration, layers upon layers of concentrated ripe yellow fruit, generous incredibly fine mousse, bright acidity, strong mineral and a long decadent yellow fruit driven finish. The palate has developed beautifully, i.e. the generous mousse is so fine that is weightless. For the past couple of years, the 02 Dom has really blossomed. Drinking beautifully but a long life ahead.

May 18, 2019 - Q2 2019 Tasting - Alsatian White Varietals (The Apt): Lean and mean and still with some toasty and somehow overall just a bit easy which doesn't totally make sense to me for '02 Champagne and esp not '02 DP. It is missing some of the pizazz though that I associate with DP. I think it's just a producer that really needs some extra age.

May 15, 2019 - The 2002 Dom Perignon directly from the cellar is stepping into its drinking window. Rich and robust yellow orchard fruit, pronounced buttery brioche, gun smoke, bruised apple and a charming Burgundian minerality which I really adore. Full bodied, generous on the palate, textured lees and honeyed toast. The boldness resembles 1996, sexy and exuberant. Drink over the next two decades. (95/100)

April 30, 2019 - Beautiful wine with hints of marzipan on the nose. Still youthful with lots of life. Amazing

April 28, 2019 - Superb but three to five years away from being an approachable young Champagne. Again, this is excellent, but more so than any other ‘02, say Bollinger R.D., Taittinger CDC, or even Krug, this feels too tightly wound and closed at the moment. Big lemon lime citrus but the brioche and DP character isn’t fully expressed yet. Linear, focused, and definitely powerful. Densely packed and will surely open amazingly. Glad I own a bit but will definitely be letting these sit for a long while.
