Community Tasting Note

April 1, 2010 - Dark ruby with a red rim; Sweet spice and kirsch aromas with kirsch, spice, dark chocolate and blueberry flavors. Long tannic and acidic finish. After the decant this was very disjointed but after some time in the decanter started to come together. There was some disagreement whether it was acidity or too much alcohol on the finish. I voted for both. Hopefully a few more years will help the integration with this wine. Decanted about 30 minutes and needed quite a bit more time. Note that the score was for the final glass.

4/2/10, 7:02 AM - We did not finish this bottle and saved a bit to try today for comparison. FWIW it was a horrible mess this morning - cherry cough syrup.

4/2/10, 9:00 AM - Interesting note, especially from the second day. Makes me wonder if I should just sell the QC that I have instead of drinking it.

4/2/10, 7:10 PM - @Rob - FWIW I have already sold off more than half of the QC that I had as one of the original mailing list members. I will gladly drink the rest but I do think there is some question about how each vintage will turn out.

4/6/10, 9:48 AM - I've had QCs with about 10-15 years of age on them and they are quite tasty but I think the wines they made back then were done in a slightly different style then they are today. I still like the young ones but I may find more value in trading them. Perhaps I'll just drink them and move on. :)
