May 31, 2010 - It's been almost a year and a half since I opened one of these. Color: Dark ruby. Nose: Black cherries, cassis, black raspberries, florals. The fruit is more prominent than I remember, which is interesting considering the additional bottle age. On the palate: Medium/full bodied, mouthfilling explosion of black and red fruits. Acidity spikes initially but as I recall that will mellow with air time. Right now just 15 min from opening. The midpalate is brooding and lovely with bitter dark chocolate, tobacco, leather and black pepper complementing the acidity and fruit. The finish is very long at 60+sec. The only significant change from previous taste is that the tannins have started to integrate a bit more. This wine is great now paired with red meats (burgers on the grill-Memorial Day tonight). It's firm tannins leave the palate moderately dry but fruit remains throughout. Getting a kick of pepper in the finish as well. This wine is tracking well. Have another bottle and would like to wait at least another year to see how it goes.
