April 1, 2011 - Tasted after Rodney Strong Chalk Hill Reserve 2008. Same bright gold in the glass, but a far more pronounced nose than the 2008. 2007 was overall rated as a much better and more consistent vintage and it is definitely visible here. The palate is made up of creamy lemon and peach notes, with hints of some green (lemongrass) and ginger spice. The finish is all toasty oak with lots of rich vanilla. The alcohol, once again, stands out as being a little too big for my white wine tastes (14.5%), but if you like your Chardonnay stamped with a California signature, this is a wine for you.
