July 22, 2011 - My first of the 2000's. Very different from the 1995, which I found much more refined. The 2000 has a little more 'grittiness' to it. Initially, this had a distinctive whiff of barnyard in it, but it blew off to reveal a very well-balanced and integrated wine. Pleasant, with notes of currants, vanilla/oak, and tobacco. Tannins were soft and chewy. Better with food than without... A very well made wine, but I can't see it improving much with more age.
