August 1, 2012 - Nose. Black cherries, prunes, dark plums, notes of new leather, cassis de Dijon, geranium. Hints of tobacco, green olives. Opens up to strong aromas of brewed coffee and dry earth. Notes of cigar ash.
Palate. Cranberry acidity and fruit. Sour cherries (that soften up with airing). Cigar ash!! Slightly metallic finish. The length of the finish is extraordinary.
A very complex wine that is still very expressive. If you can pair the sour cherries and cigar ash with some tasty meat and spices/herbs, this wine could offer a great experience. The balance leans slightly towards acidity.1,869 views
