  November 10, 2012 - This wine was right up my alley. A big robust wine with some nice syrah funkiness to it. This was a pop and pour and I felt it was good right out of the gate. on the nose was earth, olive, and meat. On the palate, was more of this meaty/iron note with olive, mushroom, and earth. The fruit aspect seemed to be all deep black/blue fruit. There was also some slight smoke and leather on the back end. Of note, and which I liked, there was a floral/grapefruit core to this that may be part of the viognier added. As stated, this was a robust wine but also was still quite lively and lithe on the palate. For my tastes, this is very well balanced and integrated. I feel it could still improve but it was dang tasty now. I meant to save some for a night two comparison....oops.
