December 12, 2012 - This wine is a knockout, pure and simple. Its superbly elegant, beautiful, floral nose can fill the nearby space in a room in a few minutes. Little comparison to the standard Marcoux bottling, this prestige cuvée should convince anyone of the benefit that old vines can produce. Its remarkable palate almost defies limiting descriptors, at various times it seems most every berry flavor imaginable is there, along with spice, licorice, pepper, smoke, and some more besides. This is one wine you can pour to make devotees of Chateauneuf. Your guests will pull out their iPhones and snap photos of the label so they won't forget just what was this thoroughly remarkable wine they were served. This one can comfortably take its place alongside the other superstars of the 2007 CdP's, which in my view include Usseglio Deux Frères, Deus ex Machina, Beaucastel Hommage and Janasse VV. A superb effort from Marcoux, indeed. Bravo!
