March 18, 2013 - very enjoyable sub $20 bordeaux. Color is on the lighter side for cabernet based blends only a few years old. Rim variation fairly pronounced. Nose is complex with loads of non fruit characteristics. tobacco, mint? herbaceous at any rate. Taste tends toward red fruits. Palate finishes well, I tend to agree with others that it is not fully integrated over front/mid/back, but for the price it is great. For what it is worth here is the garagiste note:

2009 Chateau Martinet (Cotes de Bourg – rouge) - $16.82
This is such a lovely red Bordeaux with the incredible fruit of 2009 meshed to a silken Merlot and finely tannic Cabernet/Malbec style that it will have many of you doing cartwheels. I don't want to go into too much detail as the red wine of this estate was recently discovered by you know who and allocations are already hard enough to come by. Please note - my tasting was from a finished bottle, not a barrel sample, and the wine is even better in bottle than it was in barrel last winter (which was already darn great). A truly fine result produced by a property on the rise that will abandon this level of pricing sooner rather than later. Drink 2012-2017+
