August 27, 2013 - A slightly translucent wine with crimson colored rim, with a peculiar aroma of barnyard, cherries, raspberries, blackberry liqueur, lavender, garrigue, coffee, tobacco, old leather, roasted meats, black pepper, sweet spices, and creamy vanilla. A strong entry on the palate with sweet dark cherries, raspberries, blackberries, dark chocolate that leads to a complex midpalate filled with prunes, black olives, licorice, roasted meats, and lively acidity. The finish is long and smooth with sweet dark fruit liqueur, raspberries, milk chocolate, creamy vanilla, black pepper, sweet spices, and silky fully integrated tannins. A complex mid to full bodied wine that has many layers of aromas and flavors, the amount of brettanomyces present adds nuance like a dash of spices while also revealing its uniqueness.
