March 30, 2014 - Double decanted. Massive wine that changed dramatically back and forth during the evening. Obviously Still in a dumb phase. Dark fruit with notes of very ripe raspberries, cherries, tobacco, dark chocolate and dust. It went back and forth of being pure, focused and oaky, to dusty, earthy and too oaky. This is clearly a great wine with endless layers of complexity, but it really needs more time to integrate the oak. Tasted alongside Rocche di Falletto Ris 2001, which was the clear winner this evening.
