February 2, 2015 - I opened this wine a few years too early. But still, a useful note to store away on what a youngish Brunello tastes like.

In the glass, the wine has a deep garnet color. Bouquet of leather, game on the one hand, and blueberries on the other.

First glass at opening: On the palette, the tannins are immediately discernable. Still these are medium tannins and there is enough fruit and acidity to provide balance. Great balance and length (went for about 30 seconds).

Decanted for 2 hrs: Made a huge difference. The wine had softened up and the fruit came to the front. I got blueberries, strawberries and medium ripe cherries. The tannin was still there but much softer. Had the wine with brie. The slight saltiness of the cheese helped with bringing out the fruit.

Day 2: Open up the second half of the bottle. Drank much like the first glass on day one. I decanted and waited. But was happy to see the wine had not faded even a bit.

Da 2: Decanted for 1hr and then drank. Notes are very similar to those from Day 1.
