Community Tasting Note

  • Zweder Likes this wine: 92 points

February 4, 2015 - Monthly Tasting Group EEE #035; A mixed set of white, red and sweet (@ My place): This wine developed so much for the better. I served it completely blind and many thought it was Northern Rhone. I don’t know if Ojai considers that as a compliment, but I do. In the bouquet dark berry fruits, minerals, leather, licorice and a pleasant touch of barnyard. On the palate rustic with dark fruits like blackberries, smoke, toast, coffee, chocolate, pepper and also some tea. Good acidity and tannin and a pleasant bit of sweetness in the long finish.

3/22/17, 8:25 AM - Planing to bring this wine to a blind tasting on northern Rhone wines.
Wonder how it will come out... what to think on quite opposite declarations from Adam Tolmach, the one in the interview with Corie Brown in the LA Times back in 2008 and his comment on this particular cuvé on Ojai website. Is this wine was manipulate during elaboration ? will it be more in the "big bold style" or will it be closer to the typical "old world classical style" ? This last analogy was mention by...Parker jr. !
