April 24, 2015 - Perfect bottle. Great fill. Stored under perfect conditions.
Very, very young colour. Dark, dense, compact. Almost black.
Needs time in decanter to open up. At least 4 h. But the best glass I had was the one I saved for the next day ... so I must say it is at its best after 24 hours, that's how young this wine is. And this wine is 25 years old (young)!!
Wonderful bouquet of dark cherries, blackberries, mocca, leather, curry powder, pencil/graphite, cassis, oak, cedar and cigarr box.
Nice flavours, ripe cherries, coffee, meat, blood, bacon, chocolate, oak, cedar.
The tannins are obvious and quite tight, yet they stay in the background and integrates well with the fruit and the quite brisk acidity. I must say I like the acidity in this wine, just refreshing. Good balance.
But this wine lack the extra dimension that only the big wines offers, and the finish is a bit shorter than expected ... yet I love this wine and give it a good score, 93+ to 94.
This was a perfect match with Steak Frites!
