Community Tasting Note

October 25, 2015 - M. Lurton explained that this is a SB-dominated wine, and it shows, even if my description might suggest otherwise. Pineapple, apricot, cantaloupe, coconut, and dare I say a hint of botrytis spice? There is a little bit of residual sugar lying underneath. Great piercing acidity, slightly viscous mouthfeel, and just amazing, amazing balance that combines substantial presence and freshness. Granted, I have no other experience with this wine but I think it tastes pretty darn good now. If money was no object, this is what I would love to have around as a "house white." Ah, one can dream.

10/27/15, 6:12 PM - Thanks for your note and rating. Wow, sipping nicely now? We love this wine, and we have sipped more than several vintages...but not so young. We note the piercing acidity comment, which is helpful as we expect good acidity, but "elegant" would be the adjective we would be seeking. Yes, we agree this would be oh so nice a "house white"....we would have been truly tremendous trust fund babies...perhaps next life :-)

10/27/15, 6:46 PM - Thanks for your comment. "Elegant" is definitely an apt descriptor, even though it slipped my mind when I was writing the note. Again, I have no experience with older vintages of the Ygrec but don't feel bad about yourself if you can't resist the temptation to pop a bottle now!

10/27/15, 10:37 PM - Thanks. Ah, well, we rarely feel badly "killing babies" when it comes to The Noble Grape...as long as we have more than one bottle in the cellar ;-)
