March 6, 2016 - Still just a massive wine. Two hours in, it has barely begun to give up what it has to offer. Tar, molasses, and bramble nose accented by blueberry/blackberry and spice. This wine was extremely closed upon opening.
After sufficient air time, it delivers a mouth-coating and super-long finish with blueberry, earth, allspice, molasses, garrigue and just a little scorched earth.
The first time I had this wine in 2011, it was an explosive powerhouse that actually outdid an Alban Reva in that it had similar density but with much more grace. Glad I have three more bottles and will not touch for another five years. From what I can see, the 2007 might have been an all-time best for this cuvee by some degree.
If you choose to open this, decant and give it three hours before trying it or you will be wasting some!2 people found this helpful 2,879 views
