March 12, 2016 - Traditional Napa Valley value continues to outperform its $40 price point again with the 2013 vintage. Foursquare in nature and like all 2013's, requires a great deal of air as I decanted in ice water for 4 hours, followed by 2 additional hours at room temp. First sip after 6 hours of decanting and nose gave traditional Napa blue and black fruits with forest air as well and taste provided a solid core of approachable blue, black and raspberry notes followed by tannins, which were still grippy. As the night went on, the wine changed and provided more of a sweet taste.

After 24 hours, the wine performed very well as nose was just as strong and tannins, although still evident, were more integrated giving the wine more of a smooth feel. Medium bodied and would not recommend pop and pour as air is this wines friend. The more of it, the better. Enjoy.
