Community Tasting Note

  • Eclipse1 Does not like this wine: 50 points

August 30, 2016 - Great if you hanker after a reminder of how good lucozade was when you were a kid. Clumsy, cloying, far too much acidity. Boiled sweets, spritzy and frankly, sickly. All the fruit seems to collide like a bad car crash and leaves the worst after taste i can ever recall. Has an almost tannic finish. At best it is like getting bored with sucking a sherbert lemon, but when you finally crunch it to relieve the boredom you get a squirt of sour, bitterness. Off to the fridge to get some PX .

    10/3/16, 7:09 PM - Sounds like a flawed bottle.

6/6/20, 6:12 PM - Had the 4th bottle from a case purchased a few years ago from Morell and Co when they held online auctions in NYC. Sounds to me like whoever was supplying stores near you is selling heat damaged bottles of this wine. To me, and please take no offense, perhaps this should be ranked "flawed" rather than a 50 as it appears you were sold bottles that do not "represent" how a properly stored bottle of 2009 RP should taste which is well described by GALEWSKJ's review in 2019.
