September 18, 2017 - Last time I tasted this was at the vineyard in 2015. Nose was lively and expressive from the beginning. Slo Ox'd initially for about 3 hours and the palate Reminded me of the profile in 2015 but more of a darker cherry profile and cocoa powder along with a fuller mouthfeel. After 7 plus hours it showed much more complexity and revealed the cooler acidic streak in the background showing wet stone with a hint of menthol and graphite. The fruit profile was more ripe cherry at this point. Rather than a linear taste profile shifting from fruit to savory or vice versa, all the flavors seemed to be on display in perfect balance from the front end, midpalate and on the very long finish. A seamless wine and an absolute pleasure to share with my wife on our anniversary. Certainly no rush to open now but if you want a wine to sip and savor this packs plenty of enjoyment now with some air.
