Community Tasting Note

July 29, 2018 - This wine is clear with a deep garnet color. It shows a clean nose of medium intensity of black, ripe cherry, plums and ripe blueberries. secondary aromas of cedar box and vanilla are also present. The nose has certain "meaty" smell to it. On the palate, it is dry with pleasant medium plus acidity and well integrated medium tannins. The alcohol is definitely there but is not over aggressive, it is 14% but I would call it "Medium". The body of this wine is silky and well defined but not overly strong, call it medium as well. On the palate the flavors of dark cherry, cured meat, plums with a hint of black pepper are all well represented. There finish is long and satisfying. This wine is very good now. It should be drunk over the next 2-4 years as the fruit is starting to be less pronounced. A bottle of 2000 Beaucastel I had yesterday had no fruit left on the nose or on the palate. So I think that 2005 should be drunk by 2022 by the latest.

8/4/18, 6:53 AM - This sure reads like a WSET tasting note. Classic and well done. :)
