Community Tasting Note

August 17, 2018 - I have always preferred the brighter flavors in this sun-soaked wine when compared to Alta Colina's "Old 900" syrah. It is so interesting to read other CTer's notes on this wine. We had this wine along with the 2015 vintage of this wine alongside the 2015 "Old 900" and the 2012 "Old 900." [Yeah... It was a great evening!!] Given the opportunity to compare these four wines side by side, this one - the 2012 "Toasted Slope" - was my favorite! I did not get the "darker fruits and the smokiness" that some CTers mention. But I wonder if that is because it was alongside the "Old 900s" which definitely had a wonderful smoky component. What I did get was a very well balanced wine with great red, tending towards purple, fruit flavors. It doesn't smack you in the face. It says, "Sit back; take your time; enjoy." Really nice!
