September 5, 2018 - Chardonnay Shootout: Burgundy vs New World, Double Blind (Booth One - Chicago IL): Double blind in Chardonnay New World vs Old World shootout. Great aromatic start with rich stone and orchard fruit and spice aplenty. Palate is similar but so much riper, seemingly less balanced and thereby less enjoyable. Spice on the palate comes across as so new oak driven. Warm finish. Probably better with another year or two in the cellar, but not long-term because of the heat, so 2019- 2023 or so. Correctly identified as New World.

9/6/18, 4:41 AM - Enjoyed all of the blind tasting notes. No grade inflation here, you are tough ! I do wonder if a slightly older Aubert would have performed a little better. I know you have tasted them from your previous notes and you probably brought Burgundy. Any thoughts?
