Community Tasting Note

September 14, 2018 - Hammer75 brought this to a tasting, for which I am grateful. Nine days have since passed, and this wine, the most memorable non-fortified wine poured that evening, continues to hold my attention.

It is the finest Gruaud Larose I have tasted. At thirty years of age it showed remarkable freshness, on the bouquet and palate, with blackcurrant, pepper garden, and graphite strikingly expressive. The wine also featured effusive secondary and tertiary elements, and still, its liveliness stood out. Indeed, this juxtaposition of vivacity and maturity ranks among the most beguiling tasting experiences of my wine lifetime.

Funk, sous-bois, root vegetables, tobacco, dried thick petal flowers, cedar, worn saddle leather, and deep minerality also showed prominently. The mid palate captivated with its lithe power. The back featured the finest tactile senses of traditional Bordeaux. The evocative finish had no quit in it. It will last for another decade...but why wait? Liquid pleasure!
