September 27, 2018 - I gave this BOTTLE 97 points but I am learning after trying a few different vintages and multiple bottles of the same vintage, including this one, variation is bordering on ridiculous. Both 2010 and 2011 are a 70/30 crap shoot. It will either be Lafite after doing 50 push-ups or some strange concoction of rusty metal and standard right bank. This bottle woke up on the right side of the bed and succulent red fruit, fresh cut pine, and mossy terroir are on full display. I feel like we should know what barrels the bottles come from... such an interesting wine. 2010 is not worth the gamble $$ wise, but 2011 absolutely is. I don't see much difference between the peak experience of either. But keep in mind, if this bottle comes short, it is very disappointing. If serving to guests, absolutely open before they arrive to see what character shows up.
