February 3, 2019 - Tasted blind, this wine had a deep purple/red center with reddish rims. Clearly, this still looked rather young. The medium+ intensity nose showed black cherries, red dust, and some honey.

In the mouth, this wine was rich and ripe with rounded tannin, good acidity, and nice length.

I wonder how long this bottle was open and if it would have showed more if given more air. I tasted a wine that was very nice but not particularly special.

2/3/19, 8:12 PM - In my experience all the Diamond Creek wines need a long time in a decanter to show their best...3-5 hours. RedRock Terrace at the low end of that, Gravelly Meadow in the middle and Volcanic Hill the most even beyond that range. Cheers!

2/3/19, 9:26 PM - I suspected that and, if I were opening the wine, I would have probably given it more time. Thanks for the confirmation!

6/9/19, 12:03 AM - I drank my last bottle back in 2013, and it was past due at that point. I guess one never knows with wine. Evidently your bottle had some extra years in it. Lucky you.
