  May 2, 2019 - Wine of the night? Tasted among eight decent reds (Montelena Estate Cab 1987, Rayas 1998, Togni 1999 etc) and it was competing for the top spot. Opened for an hour before tasting. Still dark intense, opaque red; no sign of the 25 years. Forward and intense nose; dark red and blue fruit and tapenade. The palate is balanced, the tannins are ripe and still detectable. Finish is very long. Not sure that it will get any better, but this one is not dying yet. California made some great wines in the 1990s.
