  August 21, 2019 - I know this a 100 point wine in RP but I didn’t see it. Great nose with black fruits and smoke meat notes check. Full bodied singing palate of black currant, tobacco and underbrush check. Long satisfying finish check. So this is an excellent Cali Syrah in a prime drinking window now but it lacks that extra verve or complexity that would make it a 100 pointer in my world. I just don’t step away from this thinking it’s that much better than the other leading syrahs from CA. But happy to drink more of this anyday and thankfully I have several more bottles.

  8/21/19, 1:52 AM - Agree. Had one recently. It had a few 95++ wow moments and features. But in the end. Far from 100.

  This wine had everything as advertised:
  Color so deep it could have been barrel thiefed.
  Nose of saddle leather, pomegranent, and a perfume I am unable to name after a medicinal opening.
  On the palate the same hauting deep pomegranate and long long finish.
  Might be the best I have had from Alban.

  10/2/19, 5:33 AM - I am hard grader. For me 95 points and above needs to be something really special that combines power, complexity, balance and subtlety. This just didn’t have all those elements for me at least on this drinking. Because it’s a big wine with some more decanting or the next day it would have scored a little higher.
