August 27, 2019 - Apple, pear and melon on the nose. Medium bodied (7.5% ABV) with white apple and pear upfront, throwing in a slight hint of green melon. Mid-body seems a bit closed at present. There's depth there, but feels tightly packed and not revealing extra layers right now. Tangerine, lime and lemon on the backside and through the finish. There's very good, solid acidity here providing structure and it does gain in intensity from the mid-body through the finish. It doesn't have that racy, vibrant quality that I love in young rieslings from excellent vintages. However, given the fruit profile, it wasn't needed for balance. It will be interesting to see how this wine develops over time. My hope is that the mid-body opens up and perhaps some tropical note start to creep in as well. Next bottle for me in Summer 2020.
