September 21, 2019 - Decided to revisit because I'm thinking about buying more. What a great wine - the best Sonoma based cab that I've had. Dark ruby fruit - currants/cassis, blackberry, and dark cherry. Really smooth with a beautiful purity and solid depth/concentration - it has added some weight from the last tasting around three months ago. Once again, really nice vibrant/full flavors of dark berries, spice box/licorice, and chocolate/cocoa. Long finish. Slow ox for five hours and drank over a couple more. Improved a little with time but drinking quite well after the slow ox despite its youth - in light of how well everything is integrated I would never guess that this was a 2016 cab if drinking blind. The profile reminds me of a great vintage of the Carter Weitz cab. Once again, no surprise of the 97+ rating from Dunnuck. 100% cab.

9/22/19, 9:51 AM - Considering the minor price difference between this and the Jersey Boy, do you see a reason to buy the Jersey Boy? Feels like this is one of the steals for the 2016s based on your reviews.

9/22/19, 11:40 AM - The Heirloom has it all going on - depth/concentration, full flavors, purity, etc.. However, the Jersey Boys isn’t far off in my opinion. There is a really nice combination of dark berries and chocolate with the Jersey Boys that I really enjoyed. I was actually planning on just picking up more of the Jersey Boys after a recent tasting but then decided to try the Heirloom again before ordering. I will be buying more of both. I personally would recommend trying a bottle of each - I don’t believe you’ll be disappointed with either wine. Take care.

9/22/19, 1:11 PM - Thank you. I’ll grab a few of both. I have some of the Heirloom but for the price it doesn’t seem like a bad thought to buy more. Appreciate the help as always!

9/22/19, 3:05 PM - I hear you especially with a lot of questions about the 2017 vintage. FYI, drinking a 2016 Carter Weitz now because I was curious how it compares to the Heirloom. Both are great but I would give a nod to the Heirloom. The flavors, depth/concentration, and purity of the Weitz are impressive but I believe it needs some more time to fan-out/open-up on the back-end. Overall, the Heirloom comes across like a more mature cab.

11/16/19, 1:25 PM - I am considering purchasing 4 to 6 bottles. Do you think this is as good as it gets given the price range? Thank you. PS... Your outstanding opinions made me spend more money than Jeb, Parker and Vinous. That is OK.

11/16/19, 1:54 PM - Fastcar888, thank you for the kind words. The 16 Heirloom cab is probably in my top two or three cabs that I’ve had this year. However, I had another bottle of the 16 Kinsella Jersey Boys cab last night and it is right there in my opinion - comes across like a more mature wine with a nice purity and really nice flavor profile of chocolate/cocoa. Originally I was buying the Heirloom at $130 in the secondary market but then they raised the price to around $150 - I believe they figured-out that they mis-priced it. With the Jersey Boys at around $120, I just bought more of the Jersey Boys cab. I would highly recommend grabbing at least one bottle of the 16 Jersey Boys cab - I’m quite confident that you won’t be disappointed with that wine. Take care.
