November 23, 2019 - This was my first exposure to the Nero d'Avola grape from Sicily. I come to find out that this grape I never heard of is the most important red wine grape in Sicily and is one of Italy's most important indigenous varieties.
This @feudidelpisciottowinerelais is deep ruby red in color with an intense fruity nose of ripe blueberry, black cherry and pomegranate, with a hint of spice.
This full bodied wine is well structured with medium+ acidity and grippy tannins. On the first day, it came across as very fruit forward with flavors of blueberry, black cherry & plum. The next day as the wine opened up the fruit flavors gave me the impression of being stewed...think of raisins or prunes.
