January 14, 2020 - Subsequent notes on this wine from close to four years ago. Deep, dark garnet in color with clearing at the edges. Full, fragrant & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries. blueberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes, sandalwood, tobacco, spices, olives, leather, anise, some tar, herbs & a hint of cedar in the background. Full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, mulberries & plums with spices, dried herbs, some minerals & a slight touch of vanilla/oak. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing but at 13 years of age is approaching its peak of development. However, it should be able to age further if cellared properly although any further development may be minimal.
