January 30, 2020 - 2004 champagne horizontal (110 Taillevent London): Buttermilk, saline, moreish. Better than recent disappointments with 1995 and 2002 vintage of this overrated and overpriced cuvee.

In label-drinking Asia, where I currently live, it is all the craze - the glizzier the better, so prices got pushed up... If you spend that much on a Champagne the better choice is Krug Clos du Mesnil. I attended a complete vertical last month and it was stunning. And yes, the Taittinger Comte de Champagne is such a great cellar defender together with my other 3 favorite Cuvees, the Phillipponnat Clos des Goisses, Egly-Ouriet BdN and Krug Grande Cuvee. Thanks for your great tasting write up.

Well, let the others have them ;-), there are so many expensive wines out there nowadays that the discerning collector (believes he/she) needs, so let's concentrate on those that at least offer a special and emotional experience (most of the times / sometimes). Nice to think as Taittinger CdC as cellar defender! Cheers, Ben.
