  April 5, 2020 - A lovely wine, the 2005 Beaucastel is really in its window now. Deeply colored, the nose is extremely complex and spicy with a mix of ripe cassis, plums, red licorice, and cherry pastilles. There is a hint of freshly mowed hay too, but barely perceptible. On the palate, tart and Burgundian, like a Syrah, with the fruit just barely ripe and the soft tannins and lifting acidity really telling the main story. Long mineral support... a sensational wine!
