Community Tasting Note

  • rwerner Likes this wine: 90 points

April 13, 2020 - Opening the bottle without decanting lots of pleasant tannis but the fruit was hidden. The fruit developed in the class within 30 minutes. Drank with a ribeye steak. Time to drink these bottles up as don't expect it to improve.

4/14/20, 4:57 PM - Was this a good pairing with the ribeye or would you recommend something else? I have been waiting on trying many of my 2004 Bordeaux.

4/14/20, 5:57 PM - I drink mostly California wines living in Los Angeles but have traveled and tasted in Bordeaux and appreciate the differences. I had a bit left of the bottle the following day and had the same experience. I did not decant it as I didn't expect to finish the wine in one night. The first taste was tight with strong tannins and the fruit not showing. Within 30 minutes it tasted more balanced which might have been my tongue getting used to the tannins? I definitely enjoyed the wine but was hoping to give it a 92+ score but couldn't.
