May 19, 2020 - Not sure if there were some changes between 06 and 13 vintages because this is a lot more old school in style than more recent vintages suggest. Very tannic even now suggesting to me this will always be a feature and more time in the bottle won't soften the stance. Too much for my liking. This wine and the Clos St Jacques from the same vintage and producer next to it were dark and brooding, lacking subtlety and finesse especially considering the pedigree. Strikes me as a cold soak pre ferment maceration in terms of style giving rise to darker colour and meaty profile. If you like that style (think Jean Grivot) then this will be your cup of tea. I prefer the silk and lace which I have encountered in more recent Bruno Clair vintages (2013) and the wines have such great charm and class. I bought these hoping they would be of a similar nature but sadly not. Maybe more recent examples of these great vineyards are but the 06's are missing those qualities that make those vineyards truly great.

5/20/20, 4:39 AM - To my knowlede there has been no great change in style or winemaking practice chez Bruno Clair, even if his son Edouard has been involved since some years back (6 or 7 I think). I've not had the most recent vintages, but their style has always been quite old school with a good portion of oak and structure/power more than soft, silky fruit. The 2006 vintage was always a bit austere and stringent stylewise with lots of structure and not much fruit, so that may be a factor here as well.
