July 15, 2020 - 375ml. Medium bodied, modern and traditional styling. Nose is mentholated with red fruit and oak. Palate continues the woody, mentholated (like fresh forest), dark red fruit trend adding in dried tobacco (like cigar), spices, cacao powder. Mid-palate is that fresh herb-stem Cab Franc sort of green. Good balance and surprisingly powerful finish and length. It's not fruit-dominant like many 2015s.
There are more negative reviews here than I'd expect, but maybe it's just not what you'd expect (no big fruit, cedar, pencil shavings). It's a solid Cab Franc Bordeaux, with some hints of Loire and Santa Cruz Mountains terroir mixed in. Priced appropriately if you follow Bdx, or a bargain if you're used to supermarket Bordeaux.2 people found this helpful 2,167 views
