August 16, 2020 - This wine continues to amaze but I must resist drinking any more bottles for a while, as the wine is still quite youthful. Dense dark fruit with waves of cassis, raspberry, black cherry, cedar, and spice. Tannins still prominent but well integrated. Very long finish, 30+ seconds. We drank this with grilled bacon-wrapped antelope filets with port wine reduction sauce - delicious and decadent pairing!

8/17/20, 5:58 AM - Agree with comment about decanting. I decanted this bottle about 2 hours but could definitely decant longer - it opens up nicely.

8/17/20, 6:01 AM - Laz4wine, the magnums should be terrific. Obviously, aging process takes longer with large format bottles so those could age for quite a long time (2040+) but I'm sure they would be good now - just make sure you decant for several hours.

8/17/20, 7:57 AM - Thanks SG - looking to open for kid's life events, hoping before 2040, but who knows maybe a new / additional grandchild around that time?! It's his decision, hoping he'll agree to college graduation ~2026 to give us a first glimpse into its longevity!!

8/17/20, 8:56 AM - spender, I've decanted some of these '03s for 5-6 hours but have really seen most of them drinking their best at around hour #4. Pontet Canet from '03 is the same as this Cos.

8/17/20, 9:45 AM - Anytime dude....I always enjoy getting help here, so glad to dish some out, too. I never understood BDX's before about 2016....but since then have learned it is as important to match the decant time to the wine as it is the meal! (in order to get the best impression possible form each bottle!)
