February 5, 2021 - The 2016 from Papera Ranch continues to be a star of the vintage. The acidity is just right and there is a distinctive fruit note somewhere between raspberry-strawberry-cherry. Tannins are soft and unobtrusive and it finishes with a touch of oak and spice. Very drinkable and I suspect it has plateaued but should be great for several more years.

2/10/21, 8:11 AM - I've just got a couple left, maybe 8x '16s and the same '17s.....I fluctuate back and forth between the styles if zins I drink and the last 2 years it's been back to Turley more than most. I have the feeling that over the next few years I'll gravitate back to more Carlisle at some point. All my Carlisle bottles have been better in '20 and '21 than they were in '18 and '19.

2/10/21, 8:28 AM - Pretty sure I drink the Carlisle Zins a bit early in general. 4-5 years often seems to be the sweet spot but mine don't always last that long. Turley is good stuff. I do enjoy theirs but I never signed up for the mailing list. 3 of 5 Papera Ranch left but plenty of other distractions.

2/10/21, 9:18 AM - I tend to drink mine early too 5-6 years at most usually. I signed up for Turley years ago just because I knew their best zins were never commercially available. Very rare to see one in any wine store other than their 'Juvenile' or 'Old Vines'......never a single vineyard and they make about 27 of them.
