A gorgeous nose here: a hint of smoke, lovely floral white fruits, pineapple and more exotic yellow fruits besides. This quickly opens further, with notes of orange, soft red fruits, syrupy white flowers, honey and a touch of vanilla. Expressive, pure, great definition and a sense of creaminess too.

The palate is similarly exciting and direct with bags of fleshy yellow and orange fruits, honeyed touches and hints of toast and oak. This is lightly grippy and playful, there are salty pockets, lovely tangy acidity, notes of spicy flowers, and a silky-almost-creamy quality. Wow! So much to love now, but clearly worthy of cellaring, and should appeal to Burgundy lovers too.

Northernmost part of Oestrich; western slope; lots of iron oxide and quartz (redder soils).
    18m elevage, 100% fuder – a 3yr and an 8yr old barrel.

1/13/22, 9:46 AM - Very nice comment. By the way how much did you payed for that bottle in UK ? Here in France, purchased for 28eurs. I hope Brexit won't affect to much your prices.

1/13/22, 11:39 AM - I think retail was approx £28 but I bought some En Primeur. We've got some magnums that are tempting me at £58! We've always loved the PJK wines but I was so impressed by the 2019s... It really is a special vintage.
I'm in the industry so I get a little relief on pricing and while everything has crept up, it doesn't feel quite as bad as I feared. Currently in the midst of Burgundy2020 and when you look back at some of those prices... Wow!
