November 11, 2022 - Colour: light gold, sl green tinge, bright, clear.
Nose: full, fresh, ripe, greengages, lemon zest, some spice
Taste: light/med body, rounded, quite crisp w good acidity to balance the greengage fruit that surprises me, med finish, dry but acidity and greengage well blended.
Overall, not your standard Rheingau in its richness and lack of obvious varietal notes.Compared to Domaine Loew's Bruderbach Clos des Frères 2019 (see separate note): a draw! Both delightful.

January 13, 2022 - Pnp, on my own. Superb nose of gasolin, lime, barbie doll. Mouth is so straight, sharp, mineral. Souverein acidity, strong bitterness ending on tannins almost, and cruched granit stone, flint, or gun powder. Powerfull wine, super strutured like a concrete house, but no coating, few colors. A wine for food, experts. Nice potential of cellaring. 91-93

December 23, 2021 - Young and zesty… Not your typical pale color most likely from the oak aging. Nose was full of fresh stone fruits; apple, pear and white peach followed by citrus fruits and a slight tropical hint as well. Only a bit of honey but toffee and vanilla coming through as well from the oak.

Now the palate is a true acidity attack - loving it! Lemon, lime and tangerine dominating followed by some apple, white flowers and some spice. Saline minerality with some grapefruit and creamy toffee undertone smothered completely in a razersharp acidity that just keeps on giving.

A gorgeous nose here: a hint of smoke, lovely floral white fruits, pineapple and more exotic yellow fruits besides. This quickly opens further, with notes of orange, soft red fruits, syrupy white flowers, honey and a touch of vanilla. Expressive, pure, great definition and a sense of creaminess too.

The palate is similarly exciting and direct with bags of fleshy yellow and orange fruits, honeyed touches and hints of toast and oak. This is lightly grippy and playful, there are salty pockets, lovely tangy acidity, notes of spicy flowers, and a silky-almost-creamy quality. Wow! So much to love now, but clearly worthy of cellaring, and should appeal to Burgundy lovers too.

Northernmost part of Oestrich; western slope; lots of iron oxide and quartz (redder soils).
    18m elevage, 100% fuder – a 3yr and an 8yr old barrel.
