October 29, 2021 - Pnp'd to a medium dark gold color, a nose of talc and lemon. Palate has clean tart lemon/citrus with lively acidic backbone. Beautiful chenin/semillon blend from old bush vines. At moments this is indistinguishable many other whites out there but with time, it evolves and gains a point or two due to its differing elements. Very perfumed on the front end, kinda nutty on the back end. Enjoyed over 2-3 hours.

10/30/21, 6:39 AM - It's one of Alheit's most basic wines, his least expensive. Meant to appeal to the masses as an everyday white, whereas his other 9 or so offerings are all really more expensive/limited production 'cultish' whites. So when this is opened it is good but unremarkable. Tastes pretty much like any one of a thousand other whites out there. But given airtime of 2-3 hours, it really evolves and has a 'few' breakthroughs that reveal the quality and uniqueness of Chris's work. He truly is a master with his old vine and unique SAfrican white grapes. My initial review probably didn't get that point across clearly enough. Having said that, I probably would skip past this one if I could afford to (which I can't right now!) and buy more of his other 'cultish' whites. They can be hard to find here in the States but there are a couple of sources. Just no 'bargains' for us 'bargain hunters'!

I am a retired hunter. Just a drinker.
But for a good chenin for a special occasion I would pay the price. Might have to try, maybe next year
