December 24, 2021 - I’m going to do this in phases. First, 30 minute decant.

Nose- almost entirely black tea. Hint of smoke
Palate - no fruit. Cigar, tea, tannins are velvet. A little watery in the back of the mouth. Still grippy in the front. Enjoyable. Doubtful it holds up to food. Update at 1hour mark.

12/24/21, 7:00 PM - 2.5 hours- it’s a different wine now. Black tea is still there, but now in the background . Leather and earth in the front.

There won’t be fruit ever. Leather, still black tea. Water briefly in the finish, and you think it’s done, then tannins sneak back. It’s good.

Nose- cigar box, cedar, smoke, black tea

Palate- dust, black tea, tannins linger. Tobacco, tobacco.

A perfect example of why patience is important when experiencing quality Bordeaux. Only a vestige of the wine from 4 hours ago is still present. This is the smokiest, cigar box leather you’ll find. The finish lingers on and on and on. You’ll think you smoked a cigar.
