Flight 1 (4 notes)

Red
1990 Château Beychevelle France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
This was the first wine of the dinner. This wine definitely exhibited the enjoyable secondary aromas and flavors of bottle age. It drank as if it was much older than a 1990. If I didn't know, I would have said it was an early '80s vintage. Pleasant and light. In the sunset of it's life.
Red
1996 Château Haut-Brion France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan
Wine of the night - no surprise. Silky smooth. Expressive. Still young.
Red
1990 Château Lynch-Bages France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Pauillac
An unexpected disappointment. It seemed to be closed and lacking the depth, structure, and power one would expect.
Red
1989 Château Ducru-Beaucaillou France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien
A forward, but elegant wine. Still nicely concentrated and full of ripe fruit flavor.
