White
2008 Santa Barbara Winery Sauvignon Blanc La Presa Vineyard USA, California, Central Coast, Santa Ynez Valley
89 points
Smooth nose. Slightly flabby for Sauvignon Blanc. Little to no oak. Slight grapefruit, but not NZ-y. Smooth, not a summery style. $15
White - Sparkling
2005 Domaine Carneros Brut USA, California, Napa / Sonoma, Carneros
90 points
Yeasty nose. Effervescent, cream bomb mouthfeel. Good acidity, ready to drink. Easy but delicious.
Red
2007 Brewer-Clifton Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills USA, California, Central Coast, Sta. Rita Hills
91 points
Green nose with some smoke. Smooth, slightly sweet, elegant, very interesting. $43
Red
2003 Silver Oak Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley USA, California, Napa Valley
90 points
Toasty nose, very oaky - new American? Wow, on the palate, I can't get over the Bourbon whiskey taste. Smooth, but too much? Not tight. Very smoky. Not my style, but good.
Red
2000 Freemark Abbey Cabernet Sauvignon Sycamore Vineyard USA, California, Napa Valley, Rutherford
91 points
Greenish nose. Smooth, easy-drinking. Medium- structure, medium body. Slightly green, but not at all dilute. Solid wine for the vintage.
Red
2003 Opus One USA, California, Napa Valley
94 points
Elegant nose, very representative. Tannic, acidic, with medium body. Elegant. Currant, black fruit, very long. The consensus was that this was very tight and not ready to drink, but I disagree - if this had been decanted, it would have been singing. Worth $180. Well, no. Delicious? Well, yes.
Red
2007 Rosenblum Cellars Zinfandel Appellation Series Paso Robles USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles
90 points
Slightly green nose, which is interesting for the style. Juicy, surprisingly light on its feet, and dare I say elegant? Solid juice for a great price.
