Introduction

This has been a tradition in our home with our friends and the kids, who are now all 21 or older. 3 of the 5 were born in 1989 so I opened a few bottles for them to try with Pizza night.

Flight 1 (1 note)

A toast to 15+ years of Pizza nights

White - Sparkling
1989 Veuve Clicquot Champagne Brut La Grande Dame France, Champagne
90 points
Good fruit, clean and dry finish. Better in the glass after a while. Small bubbles.

Flight 2 (2 notes)

All homemade pizza's

Red
1989 Ravenswood Zinfandel Cooke USA, California, Sonoma County, Sonoma Valley
95 points
Outstanding, old color on the edge, fruit still there including the spiceness of black pepper. It only got better in the glass. Surprised us.
Red
1995 Ravenswood Zinfandel Wood Road-Belloni USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley
92 points
Very dark color, still young, good fruit and black cherry, some pepper, could last longer. Love to drink from magnums

Flight 3 (1 note)

French silk pie and cookies

White - Sweet/Dessert
1989 Château d'Yquem France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes
92 points
Dark amber color, good viscosity, lasting on the palate, apricot, smooth, better after a while in the glass, really began to come together. Age worthy.

Closing

At the end of the evening we moved to the garage for beer pong and a new tradition was born. After the game we finished with a round of fireworks.
