Another 1988 that has emerged beautifully from its long-term cocoon. Dark color with intense blackberry and black cherry on the nose with some really good forest floor components as well. Still quite structured, the powerful fruit has lived long enough to match up to those tannins. Very long finish is both powerful from the fruit, but also fragrant and somewhat elegant. Posterchild for good les St. Georges with some age.

Nose showed more earth than fruit along with spice hints. Palate was a good balance between red cherries and sous bois. Moderate level of acidity so I'd suggest drinking this within the next 5 years. Some roasted meat character came through on finish.

Moderate nose of dark fruit with some pleasant fruit on the palate. Not much spice, way too much oak which doesn't combine perfectly with the inherent structure and tannins of 1988 NSGs. Short finish that doesn't showcase the terroir in any interesting way. Coates' 14/20 might be just a bit extreme.
