Introduction
Wonderful intimate evening with Robert Kacher and about 15 individuals. Robert showcased a portion of his portfolio, and then the seminar focused in depth on six of his wines, Tariquet, the Quincy, the Nuits Blanc, the Tradition and Prestige Gigondas by Santa Duc and finally the Cote Rotie. Robert had plenty of interesting stories, and shared his immense knowledge of history and viticulture of France.

A surprisingly delicious fresh wine. Nose is floral and bright, with some light apple, pear and a hint of grapefruit. Very pretty light nose. Light bodied and fresh on the palate. Enjoyable wine for everyday drinking.

2010 Philippe Portier Quincy

Lively perfume. Clean and sharp on the palate and nose, with a strong mineral character. Fresh fruit notes. Crisp palate.

2009 Maison Bertrand Ambroise Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Blanc

Green apple, some citrus. Melon. Toast notes. Bright acidity. Clean but rich on the palate. Very nice. Bobby Kacher said that it pairs extremely well with pate.
Red
2009 Domaine Joblot Givry 1er Cru Clos du Cellier Aux Moines

Plenty of complexity here. Soft cherry, earth and mushroom, barnyard on the beautiful farm nose. Lean palate with purity of fruit. Medium plus finish. This is a beauty and I am looking forward to its development.

2009 Claude Dugat Gevrey-Chambertin

Rich weighty wine with tight but delicate aromas that need plenty of time to unwind. Ridiculously young at this point, as the nose evidences. The quality is there though. Save for later.
Red
2009 Domaine Santa Duc Gigondas

Almost port-like on the nose. Deep currant and blackberry notes, plenty of sweet perfume. Highly concentrated fruit that is very young and tight at this point. Gorgeous wine. Let it develop for at least 3-5 years.
Red
2009 Domaine Santa Duc Gigondas Prestige des Hautes Garrigues

Scary good. Concentrated, deep and complex on the nose. Fruit of blackberry and raspberry. Lots of violet and deep deep perfume. Palate is full, concentrated and lush. Tannins are med plus to high, but velvetized. Rich long minute plus finish. Awesome wine. Highly recommend, but very very young here.
