Flight 1 (1 note)

Red
2009 Ortas / Cave de Rasteau Rasteau La Domelière France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Rasteau
89 points
Dark plum, red fruit edges, with dried tea/herbs, mid-weight and concentration. Simple, but nice drinking.

Flight 2 (1 note)

Red
2007 Muxagat Vinhos Douro Mux Tinto Portugal, Douro
90 points
Decanted 3 hours. Loamy, earthy, dusty dark fruit, dark chocolate edges on the nose. Palate adds tea leaf and tobacco/cigar box nuances. Pulls off the rustic style quite well. 90+

Flight 3 (1 note)

Red
2006 Penfolds Shiraz Bin 28 Kalimna Australia, South Australia
92 points
Decanted 4 hours. Heavy red and black licorice, blackberry reduction, plum, vanilla bean, all carrying from nose to palate in good balance. A consistently exceptional wine.

Flight 4 (1 note)

Red
2009 Bodegas Borsao Garnacha Campo de Borja Tres Picos Spain, Aragón, Campo de Borja
90 points
Another good showing for this wine. Very sweetly floral, dark plum/prune with brambly, spicy edges.

Flight 5 (1 note)

Red
2002 Tatiarra Shiraz Cambrian Australia, Victoria, Central Victoria, Heathcote
91 points
This bottle was better than 12/3/2011 and did well without a decant. Red and black cherry changing to dark raspberry in the glass, chocolate hints in background. Nice, mature, but not overly expressive.
