Flight 10 - Dinner at The Purple Pig (3 notes)
Went to dinner with two other CT forum members. Each of us brought a bottle of wine with to share. Overall the dinner was spectatular, the wines on the other hand sadly were not.

1991 R. López de Heredia Rioja Blanco Reserva Viña Tondonia

Sauternes like honeyed coloring. Bee's wax, basement mustiness on the nose. Sea salt, sweet honey flavors along with VA on the palate.
Red
1987 Dunn Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain
I was looking forward to tasting this. Very nice dark red color. Very green, bell peppers galore on the nose. Same on the palate.

2003 Clos des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape

Light red, very burgundy like transparency. Again another disappointing showing by a high caliber producer. Very light pinot like flavors on the nose and palate. Very tight and not giving much at all. Not sure if this is in a dumb phase or just an off bottle.
